Should flooring or painting go first? That is the age old question, here is our opinion.
We feel that it is important to do things in the right order for a flooring and painting project to go smoothly, here is our recommendation for the order of things.
First all of the messy stuff should be done, like drywall install or repair, and texture.
The bulk of the painting work should be done next, keeping in mind that the floor trim such as baseboards and quarter round will need to be painted after the floor work is complete.
Then, if there is any tile work to be done, it should be done before any wood flooring or carpet, if possible.
Flooring comes next, usually at or very near the end of your remodel project.
Now it's time to install, caulk, and paint the baseboards and/or quarter round, and touch up wall paint if needed.
Carpet should be installed at this point, if applicable.
